Strøget, or “the straight” as it is meaning in English, is the most known area in Copenhagen and is the longest pedestrian shopping area in whole Europe that is a car free zone. It was created in the 1960´s as a political reaction to the more car dominating society and that car was taking over the old streets of Copenhagen.
The area is today a model to other towns across the world emulating the method.
The main street covers 3 kilometers and includes the most expensive stores in Denmark.
