Copenhagen - introduction

The biggest city, which also happens to be the capital of Denmark, is named Copenhagen and is situated on the Zealand and Amager islands. With the suburban area the population on Copenhagen reaches 1.146 000 inhabitants (2007).

It is located on the east coast by Öresund, the sound that separates Sweden from Denmark, but the town is connected with Sweden and the city of Malmö through the Öresund Bridge which was completed in 2000 after 5 years of construction.

The bridge has bound the two regions together and a lot of people commute to their works in Sweden and Denmark even if they don’t live in the country they work in.
